Education
I have a BA in philosophy from Loyola University New Orleans, a JD and an LLM with distinction in transnational law from Temple University, and a PhD in philosophy from Tulane University. My dissertation "Rules, Rights, and the Rule of Law" defended Lon Fuller's critique of legal positivism through a defense of the thesis that the rule of law is a constitutive element of respect for human rights. Eric Mack was the chair of my dissertation committee, which also included Oliver Sensen, David Shoemaker, and Jeremy Waldon (New York University School of Law).
While working towards my PhD, I was an Adam Smith Fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center, a Thomas W Smith Fellow at George Mason’s Institute for Humane Studies, and a Graduate Fellow at Tulane's Center for Ethics and Public Affairs.
Below you can find me on a windy day in Delft, Holland, visiting Hugo Grotius, 'The Father of International Law'.
